  • Home Security Cameras Online Viewer?

Posted by admin on August 15th, 2010 and filed under Home Security Camera | 1 Comment »

I am wondering and look for another online Security Camera Viewer that is free of course, so I could view my home security cameras when away. I have one now called j2kip.com but it is TERRIBLE! that is the one the guy gave me when he hooked up my cameras. ( I can no longer get in touch with him.)

    Please anyone?

I don’t know how good the free ones are, so I can’t personnally recommend one, but I did find this one which is free:

    http://www.digi-watcher.com/

There are some paid ones which are very good for your cell phone if you have a data plan. They are some that are very cheap (starting at $9 or $10 bucks and up:

Mobiscope is $9.99 and it looks like it gets pretty good reviews. I’ve used some of the free webcam software before like Yawcam but it’s a little complicated to get started.

If you know anything about how your router works, you would install the webcam software and then some of the software will broadcast your webcam output on a certain port of your computer. You enable port forwarding on your router and then connect to that address over a regular webpage. That may be your cheapest route since most webcams come with software to let them act as a web server. If not, that digi-watcher looks like a possibility and then the other options are there too which are not very expensive like Mobiscope.

Can I install a third party java to iphone 4 to watch home security camera on the phone?

Posted by admin on July 23rd, 2010 and filed under Home Security Camera | 2 Comments »

I have a home security camera system that allows me to watch the cameras remotely online. However, to do this I have to allow the server to install either an application or java. Does anyone know if this is possible on the iphone 4, or will it cause problems if I try to do it?

According to Steve Jobs, the iphone does not support Java:

    http://www.iphonefaq.org/archives/9731

However, you can find other apps for the Iphone to view video cameras:

    http://www.teepeetech.com/home-security-systems/surveillance-camera-apps-iphone-and-other-mobile-phones-60.html

They vary in price wildly. I would recommend for a consumer option to go with the one of the lower priced packages. Interestingly, the high priced packages don’t get very good reviews which is surprising given how much money they cost. Some of the companies support video software for multiple different types of phones, BlackBerry, Iphone and other smart phones. I would recommend going with one of those vendors who support multiple platforms because they would have worked out the bugs with different phones.

What kind of home security camera should I get?

Looking for some tips and ideas for buying home security cameras for our home (outdoor surveillance).

I would recommend a weatherproof security camera system with infrared sensors. Wireless security cameras are most convenient as well. If you are on a tight budget, you could try dummy cameras. As long as they are clearly visible, they may scare some bad guys away.

Looking for a home security camera system windows 7 compatible?

Posted by admin on June 26th, 2010 and filed under Home Security Camera | 2 Comments »

I cant seem to find a home security camera system online that is windows 7 compatible, wireless, and USB connects to a PC. Looking to spend a few hundred dollars.

    Hi there,

This one is $200 for 2 cameras + software, and is compatible up through Vista 32-bit which means it is very likely compatible with Windows 7 32-bit as well: http://www.q-see.com/products/security-product.php?ProductId=3

Click the ‘Ask us a question’ link to contact the manufacturer and see for yourself! Good luck :)

If I set up security cameras in my home, could I get in trouble for recording some1 w/out their permission?

Posted by admin on June 19th, 2010 and filed under Home Security Camera | 3 Comments »

I live in michigan where it is illegal to record someone without their knowledge.. Does this law apply to personal security cameras? So if someone is in my home and commit a crime, wouldn’t I be entitled to using my security camera footage as proof?

Yes…security footage would be allowed…put a small sign in your yard that says"property under surveillance.

What are the Pennsylvania Laws on setting up a Home Security Camera/System (possibly hidden) In my back yard?

Posted by admin on June 16th, 2010 and filed under Home Security Camera | 4 Comments »

My neighbor has decided that she would like to place a security system in her back yard to record if neighbor hood pets are going into it. I would like to know what the Laws are in Pennsylvania pertaining to this system. Can any part of my yard be captured? Are signs required to be posted that she has a recording security system? And what are my rights if my yard/house is being recorded?

It is illegal to record a conversation in Pennsylvania without the permission of all parties involved. See 18 Pa. Cons. Stat. §5703. These laws are so strong, that even a police officer was found guilty of the offense when he recorded a routine traffic stop in PA. Consequently, a security camera that captures sound could be illegal if it picks up a conversation you are having by the fence with someone else for instance. It’s actually a 3rd degree felony and allows one to collect civil damages in excess of $1500 or actual damages, which ever is greater, although I am not certain of the precise dollar amount.

Pennsylvania also recognizes the civil tort of invasion of privacy. The question is whether an average person in the community would find the act to be unreasonably intrusive. This will depend on what your neighbor is able to record from the angle of the camera. If it is merely a portion of your backyard, this may not be an unreasonable intrusion. If the camera records conduct within your home, this could be an unreasonable intrusion.

The Pennsylvania Constitution guarantees a greater right to privacy than the rest of the country. This is because our constitution is older than the federal document. Your best course of action would be to inform your neighbor that Pennsylvania privacy laws prohibit audio recordings without the permission of the person being recorded and that video recording that constitutes an unreasonable intrusion is a tort that will make the responsible party liable for damages. Your neighbor can legally record her own property without notice, but recording other people with or without notice can lead to legal trouble.

    Megapixel Ip Security Camera

Posted by admin on June 3rd, 2010 and filed under Swann sw244 | 2 Comments »

IP CCTV has been around for a number of years now and it’s interesting to just pause and consider who is committing to it as their chosen surveillance technology. Megapixel IP security cameras will become the standard for CCTV applications in the future as the market trends and patterns are already developing.

Of course there are many other factors that we can debate; bandwidth, storage, cost, compression standards, etc. But for article one, let us just consider that the analogue versus IP debate should fizzle-out soon simply because analogue CCTV cameras cannot improve significantly on 540TVL resolution; which in turn means that each camera should only view a scene width of 4.3m or 14ft.

People have greater expectations now, they can do so much with cheap digital stills cameras and their PCs (not to mention what they see via the internet). They are often disappointed with analogue CCTV performance; currently conscientious surveyors, consultants and installers have to take time to brief their clients properly and spend most of that time explaining the limitations of CCTV, what it won’t do, setting realistic expectations, explaining why a camera can only cover a small scene width effectively.

In truth there is no way that the public was ever going to persist with VHS VCRs once DVD players became affordable, and in time we will all move on to blu-ray and HDTV, it’s just a matter of price performance ratio.

It’s interesting to note that more and more of the big system users, with the resources to carry out in-depth trials, and the experience of previous technologies are now preferring the<a href=” http://www.idealcctv.co.uk/mega-pixel-ip-security-cameras>Megapixel IP camera</a> at their sites. Casinos, shopping centres and ports all feature amongst this set of big customers that have switched to IP CCTV.

The unique processing technologies and camera configurations are also extremely cost-effective in that they offer more detailed coverage than as many as 24 conventional surveillance cameras. This, combined with their ability to conserve valuable bandwidth and stream faster, provides numerous additional cost and operational advantages in most field. Images from IP cameras can be cropped to a 16 x 9 aspect ratio and scaled to 1080 or 720p for a true high-definition format. With support for compliant Power over Ethernet (PoE), they deliver full motion progressive scan resolution.

    This is the now!!!

Cctv Camera Systems – Your Private Security Guard

Posted by admin on May 24th, 2010 and filed under GE Home Security | No Comments »

Security is now a major and prime concern of the common people in the present vulnerable situation. But people who are financially not capable of appointing private security guards should not worry. To tackle this problem of security, various types of security camera have been launched. Security Cameras are now recognized and used as standard to monitor properties and to detect criminals. Surveillance video is claimed to be the most successful home monitoring device by its ways to protect oneself against theft and violence.

The scope Surveillance cameras in today’s world are not just restricted to Government office or banks, but CCTV cameras are being used in houses as well. Major metropolitan cities have installed several CCTV cameras throughout the city as a means of deterring and capturing criminals. These cameras are very helpful in the car parking zones to reduce car thefts. So much so is the advantage of security cameras that even cities like New York and Chicago are beginning to use surveillance cameras throughout the city.

Initially analogue CCTV systems were used but the digital phase is slowly taking them over now. These digital security cameras work by transmitting the data feed via Wi-Fi technology to the Internet. From the Internet a digital video recorder or a computer can view the feed with specially configured web browser.

Apart from the digital video security cameras, digital still surveillance cameras are also available. These cameras have motion detectors that alert the camera to take a photo when any activity occurs.

In today’s ever changing technological world, there are a wide variety of options to choose from in the security cameras segment as well. There are spy cameras that range from the smallest to the most powerful covert spy camera in the world. The micro hidden camera is an ultra-covert with 2GB of RAM for fast-action snapshot video. There is the night vision camera that captures footage even in complete darkness.

Many companies like Sony and LG are involved in manufacturing CCTV cameras and many companies like Arrow Security are involved in using these surveillance cameras. All one needs to do is to choose the one that best suits one’s requirements and act as private security guards.

Are security cameras at Home Depot monitored all the time?

Posted by admin on May 7th, 2010 and filed under Home Security Camera | 4 Comments »

    Im not trying to steal
Just curious, because I notice the aisles wih boxes of bolts and washes are not packaged in boxes, can be easily stolen.
Also How long do they keep their recordings?

They monitor them 24/7 and if they see you they will arrest you the type of device they use would determine how long they keep them but usually it is a continuous loop that resets every 24 hours but some keep a copy on a yearly basis so if you are anyone you know has or is considering taking something you may end up with free housing.~
