I want to install security cameras on my property but not sure which ones I need to get.
The cameras will be mounted 150 feet away from the house… so do I need wireless? But how would I power the camera???
Maybe I need to get wireless and solar?
i do this for a living and what we do in a situation like yours is dig a six inch deep trench from your home to the location and use direct bury cable housed in pvc and then fill up the trenches again. if you dig the trench yourself, it will be less money. pvc is relatively inexpensive. the only setback is at that distance from the power supply to the camera, the resolution of the image could be compromised.
Camera surveillance has become the mark of a generation. Everywhere we go – little do we know – we are within the sight of one or more cameras. And now, more than ever, homeowners are using the home security surveillance camera to protect their properties and their families. The home security surveillance camera scan be an enormously useful tool in keeping your home safe. And there are many ways in which to put it to good use.
As a first line of defense, homeowners can place a home security surveillance camera in strategic locations around the exterior of their property. Generally any entrances – front and back – of the property should be covered by a home security surveillance camera. Other cameras can be used to track suspicious movement on any open land surrounding the home.
Steps must be taken to protect the outdoor home security surveillance camera from the elements. If you are using a home security company then they will take these considerations into mind. If you are setting up the cameras yourself then you should extensively research the materials that should be used to install the cameras with an eye to the weather.
The indoor home security surveillance camera can be placed throughout the home in whatever capacity makes the most sense to you. Obviously a camera placed at each of the doors that will keep entrances to your home in view will make the most sense for maximizing the efficiency of the home security surveillance camera.
The advantages of the home security surveillance camera extend beyond prevention and into documentation. Should the need ever arise to have footage on record of any crimes within your home you will have such evidence readily available.
The home security surveillance camera can be a phenomenal tool in protecting your home and keeping those you love safe within its walls.

I HAVE JUST INSTALLED CCTV ON MY HOME. I AM ASKING FOR ADVICE REALLY. THE MOTION DETECTOR AREA, THAT TRIGGERS RECORDING, IS SET ON AN AREA THAT PEOPLE USE MAINLY. WHEN THE CAR IS ON THE DRIVEWAY, THAT IS THE ONLY WAY THAT PEOPLE CAN GET ACCESS TO THE PROPERTY. HOWEVER WHEN THE CAR ISN’T ON THE DRIVEWAY, THERE ARE AREAS THAT A CRIMINAL COULD GET ACCESS TO THE PROPERTY UNDETECTED. DO YOU THINK THAT A CRIMINAL WOULD WALK THROUGH THE MOTION DETECTOR AREA ANYWAY. THE DETECTION AREA COVERS HALF OF THE DRIVEWAY, SO DO YOU THINK THE CRIMINAL WOULD TRIGGER THE SYSTEM WITHOUT HIM KNOWING IT.
PS – THE SYSTEM DID CONVICT A CRIMINAL JUST 3 DAYS AGO. HE TRIGGERED THE SYSTEM WITHOUT HIM KNOWING IT. HE WAS QUITE SHOCKED TO SEE WE HAD CCTV FOOTAGE OF HIM ACTUALLY KEY-ING OUR CAR. IT WAS OUR NEIGHBOUR BY THE WAY.
PLEASE HELP ME, AND IF CCTV HAS HELPED YOU IN ANY CASE, PLEASE TELL ME. THANKS
THANKS IN ADVANCE. I HAVE TO WRITE IN CAPS
Its not possible to predict where a person would walk unless they are aware of your cctv system. Is it not possible to adjust the coverage area of the sensor or add an extra sensor if thats possible with your system.
we are finishing our basement and i am thinking of putting a security camera down there to help keep and eye on my preschool aged son when i’m upstairs. how big of an area can one camera watch? will i be able to hook it up to my TV or computer to watch? are they pretty easy to install? if it has zoom or pan/tilt, how do i control these? a joystick?

I need a wireless mountable security camera that I can keep on eye on with my pc computer. It also has to be at a reasonable price 150$ and under. are there any experts out there or people who know of a website?
There are cameras that will allow you to do this. I’ve listed a website of wireless security cameras from a reputable home security company. They range from around $197 to $99 for the wireless cameras. However, there is a whole list of other cameras (not wireless) that you may wish to consider. Frequently they are cheaper than wireless versions. Good luck.
Last note: The company I mentioned will price match, so you can be assured of the lowest price.
I would like to put some security cameras around the outside of the house, because of trouble with the neighbors. I would like to view what the cameras see, later. I think I would need at least three cameras, one on the car in the street, one on the front porch area, and one on the back yard area. Or maybe two in the front.
What is the best way to do this?
About how much would it cost?
It depends what you want to do with the video.
An inexpensive consumer 4-channel surveillance DVR is about $300.
Add in a 500 gig hard drive for about $70 (records the video).
4 cameras – Average $100 each for outdoor rated, night vision, so $400… budget around $1,000 for a low-end, multi-camera, system.
The expensive part is the labor. Are you planning to install it yourself? How will the camera’s wires get from the camera to the DVR? Thinking "wireless" cameras? They still need electricity – so is there power where you want to install the cameras?
Actually, "wireless" security cameras use more wires than wired ones… The camera needs power (1 wire) and transmits video wirelessly to a base station. The base station needs power and a wire to the DVR. Total = 3 "wires". A wired camera has one long "combo" cable that carries video and power.
How do you want to monitor that video? The DVR has a video-out connection that can connect to any TV with a working, available, composite (yellow RCA jack) plug. More expensive DVRs can be added to a computer network…
Frys (and Frysdotcom) has a good selection of security and surveillance stuff…
I want to install a Home Security Camera System. I don’t want to buy a prepackaged kit because I want to invest in better camera’s. What will it take for me to build a system if I buy a used monitor and CPU and new camera’s? I don’t know what else is needed to create my system.
You will require drill , mounting bracket & Camera for installation.
First you will have to take decision about the proper position of Camera. Then you have make mark on the wall. You will have to drill the holes & fit the mounting bracket. Connect the wires from camera to monitor. Check the power supply with tester and give power to Camera.Position the camera so that it faces the proper area. Check the overall operation.
I am looking for a good quality home security camera system something where I can view online and over my Blackberry . Any suggestions?
I need to monitor well being of my dogs.
Thank you for your help!

I need 4 outdoor home security cameras that will record to DVR.
I want the best resolution for the best price.
any suggestions on brand or model?
I stumbled across this site called, ValueTechSupply.com not too long ago while I was looking for a home security system. I actually settled on this Complete 4 Camera DVR System, http://www.valuetechsupply.com/c2max-4404.html which is now on sale for $575 I did my research and shopped around before deciding on this system and I will say, the staff at ValueTechSupply.com was so helpful and gave me the assistance I needed on the questions I had about the functionality and the setup of the system.
You can check out their entire selection of security camera kits here, http://www.valuetechsupply.com/c2max-4404.html It sounds from what you’ve included in your question that they may have the unit that includes all your requests.
Hope that helps!
